Changing teaching: Insights into individual development in the context of schools
How do institutions and schools systems change? How do individuals change their teaching within the contexts of their schools and their professional peer groups?
Using three concrete images to conceptualize and explore the change process, this talk examines these questions which underscore how change is embedded within-- and therefore interacts with-- the surrounding socio-cultural and institutional environments. The aim is to lay out some of the operational parameters of the change process, to provide easily memorable points of reference for those parameters, and to discuss specific implications for individual change in teaching.
