Emily Lites founded BizEnglish in 1997 and currently directs the development and delivery of Internet-delivered language programs teacher training at www.bizenglish.com/ The former Director of Business English Programs at the Economics Institute, University of Colorado, she has been directing programs, designing courses and curriculum, writing materials and teaching at all levels for 30 years.
Ms. Lites has co-authored nine textbooks, primarily in Business English. Recently she won International TESOL's Award for Excellence in the development of Materials for the book English for Global Business (University of Michigan Press, 2001) with Kathy Thorpe.
Ms. Lites has also been active in the teacher-training arena over many years at locations such as San Francisco State University's American Language Institute and several University of Colorado programs. Teacher training has extended to the online world as well. In addition to the online teacher training courses offered through BizEnglish, she has recently developed and delivered several online courses for TESOL as components of TESOLs online certificate program, Principles and Practices of Online Teaching.
A frequent invited speaker at international conferences and online workshops, Ms. Lites has served in numerous leadership positions in the professional organizations such as TESOL and CoTESOL. She holds a Master's degree in Teaching English as
a Foreign Language from San Francisco State University.
