WELCOME FROM THE CONFERENCE CO-CHAIRS

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the TESOL Arabia Conference Organizing Committee, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to peruse what we will have on offer.

2008 brings even more change for the TESOL Arabia Annual International Conference with our move to an institutional setting. The Dubai Men’s College campus will be the venue for the 2008 conference. We are confident that this change will only serve to enhance your conference experience.

As always, we have a terrific line up of plenary and featured speakers ready to challenge you with fresh ideas, discuss critical issues in the profession and provide you with their insights.

As in previous years, the 2008 conference will offer a comprehensive Job Fair which will once again bring together job seekers with employment recruiters. Looking for qualified candidates to fill many posts with some jobs being offered onsite, the TESOL Arabia Job Fair retains its position as the premier employment fair for both recruiters and candidates alike. Please note that candidates must register for the conference in order to attend the Job Fair.

For all book lovers and materials writers, as well as those of you looking for the latest teaching aids or editions of their preferred textbooks, the TESOL Arabia Exhibition will once again play host to the major education publishers and distributors in addition to many tertiary institutions. This is a great networking opportunity!

In line with previous years, TESOL Arabia delegates will have the opportunity to participate in a selection of professional development courses on offer prior to and during the conference. The courses available this year include:

  • Three R’s: Reigniting, Retooling & Retiring in TESOL (March 13-15, 2008)
  • English for Specific Purposes (ESP) (March 12, 2008)
  • Research Forum (March 12, 2008)
  • Educational Event and Conference Planning (March 12, 2008)
  • Young Learners Certificate (March 14, 2008)
With the exception of the Young Learners Certificate (which is offered free of charge to registered delegates), all development courses require payment of fees in addition to your conference registration. Spaces are limited so register early to avoid disappointment.

Due to the incredible success of Dubai as an international tourist and conference destination, prices are continuing to rise and demand for hotel space is at a premium. We have tried our best to provide you with some options for your hotel stay here in Dubai. Please make your hotel registrations early as rooms tend to fill up fast. Transport to and from the hotels listed on the website to the conference venue will be provided for paying guests of the hotels.
