Call for Papers

DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF PROPOSALS : November 15th, 2008

TESOL Arabia welcomes proposals to present at its 2009 International Conference. Please read what information is required before beginning the submission process. Provided you have already prepared an abstract and summary for your proposal and have a personal biography prepared, the submission process should take less than 10 minutes.

When submitting your proposal, your proposal should fit into one of the following categories:
  • Applied Linguistics
  • CALL / Internet
  • Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)
  • Critical Issues in the Profession
  • Curriculum / Materials Development
  • EAP / Content-Based Instruction
  • ESP
  • Grammar
  • Leadership
  • Learner Independence
  • Listening / Speaking
  • Reading
  • Research
  • Sociolinguistics / Culture
  • Teacher Development
  • Testing / Assessment
  • Vocabulary
  • Writing

Presenters MUST BE MEMBERS of TESOL Arabia at the time of the conference and MUST PRE-REGISTER for the Conference.

Tips for Writing Proposals (PowerPoint Presentation, 458 KB)

To submit your proposal online, please review the information below and then click on the "Submit Your Proposal" button below.

The following information is required to submit a proposal online:

  • Presenter(s):
    The following information is needed for each presenter:
    • First name and Family Name
    • Institution or Affiliation (the organization you are representing at the conference)
    • Country of Residence (where you are currently working or living)
    • Mailing Address
    • Telephone Number (Office, Home, and/or Fax)
    • E-mail Address
    • First-Time TESOL Arabia Presenter? (Yes or No)
    • Biography (30-word maximum). This will appear in the Conference Program and on the Conference Website.

     
  • Proposal:
    • Title (7-word maximum) (see examples)
    • Abstract (50-word maximum). This will be published in the Conference Program and on the Conference Website. (see examples)
    • Summary (250-word maximum). This is what the reviewers will read to decided whether to accept your proposal. (see examples)
    • Type of Presentation. (Click here to see a description of each type.)
    • Content Area of Presentation (Click here to see the different areas.)
    • Equipment Required (each room is already equipped with a laptop, LCD projector, and screen)
    • Preference for Presentation Date and Time (AM or PM)

     

You must complete all the steps in one session.
You will not be able to edit your proposal after submission.

Only one proposal per presenter will be accepted.

It is best to prepare your abstract, summary, and all other information before hand, and then copy and paste the correct information into the appropriate boxes on the proposal submission form. IF YOU TAKE MORE THAN 15 MINUTES TO COMPLETE THE SUBMISSION PROCESS, SOME DATA MAY BE LOST.
